You Are Here - Rt. 47, South Hadley, Massachusetts
You are here on Route 47, South Hadley, Massachusetts. This Connecticut River Valley town has seen its share of floods, and this weather totem pole brings that point home. Come visit this beautiful part of Western Massachusetts. Bring your boots.

What an amazing sign--that 1936 mark looks really high!
Hi, John. Yes, the 1936 flood was something, nothing like it since. Of course, there have been a lot more flood control measures, dikes and such, built since then in response to that flood.
That's my favorite stretch of Rte. 47, twisting right below Mt. Holyoke and then suddenly opening up into the wide open farmland of Hadley...
I agree, Tony, it's a lovely stretch of meandering roadway. I've always love the view from the top of the mountain, too.
