Jim Rice - Baseball Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Jim Rice of our Boston Red Sox for his election to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place this coming July in Cooperstown, New York.
Glad I finally made it to your New England blog, & sorry it took so long. Very entertaining & informative, just like your film blog & your new NE theater blog. I was a Red Sox fan as a youth & remember Rice as a fearsome hitter; glad he was inducted into the HOF.
Thanks for stopping by, John. If you were a Red Sox fan in younger days, then surely that is to be affected with a more bittersweet curse than puppy love, or the memory of the first time you tripped while rushing to catch a pop fly in "deep roving right field" between two parked cars on your street. Welcome, brother.
Yes, that is bittersweet. It's more bittersweet because when I moved to San Francisco in the late 80s I threw my lot in whole-heartedly as a Giants fan & had to suffer thru their (old version) Red Sox-like meltdown in the 02 series against the Angels. But I was happy to see the Sox win in both 04 & 07.

ReplyDeleteOur sympathies to the Giants fans in '02. Been there, done that.
